Goodwood in the sunshine with Damon Hill

People look at the cars that we advertise on behalf of clients and sometimes forget that our values are spelt out in three simple words - Confidential, Professional and International - and that means that we often work for clients on wholly discreet acquisitions as well as being involved with equally discreet disposals.

It was a joy this week to get an email from a client who a couple of years ago asked us to source an Aston Martin DB3S. We did our homework and approached the owner of one of the most famous of the 1950's racing versions. It had been on the market but, unsold, returned to its European base – undoubtedly the very top of its class, we managed to broker a transaction that saw the car come home to the UK.

The following link has photographs of a recent day at Goodwood where the car was allowed to stretch its legs under the guidance of former World Champion, Damon Hill and we can only imagine just how good it was for the owner to share the track experience.

But the interest does not stop there because this is a car originally built for Sir David Brown but was then driven in anger by the racing superstars of the day Sir Stirling Moss, Peter Collins, Tony Brooks, Roy Salvadori, Reg Parnell and even Damon's Dad, Graham Hill.

To bring the Aston Martin connection bang up to date, that is current Aston Works driver Darren Turner looking rather jealously under the bonnet.
